Lizzie was one of the first of the group and mostly involved with hair
and make-up. She has appeared in some of the plays, but only when they
have been small parts!
Ken
& Esther Davis Ken is a founder member and has seen the group develop and
deliver excellent performances. At the time of writing (2005) he felt
that Noel Coward (Blithe Spirit) would be a challenge but had every confidence
of a successful production (which it was without doubt). Esther
belonged to a village drama group when single so was only too pleased
to also be a founder member of the JP's. She has been on stage (where
she feels most at home!) in all but one of the productions.
Nick
Stylianides
& Sam Enness Sam joined the players in 2003, being more used to tap dancing
on stage than acting! Her first part was in 'A Fish Out of Water'. Due
to work & family commitments she hasn't been in every production,
but has always helped backstage or supported in the audience when not
on stage. Nick is one of the newest members; having been bitten
by the acting bug after 'volunteering' to play the Dame in the 2007 Bratton
Panto People's production of 'The Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe'. His
first serious part with the Players was as Private Secretary to Ken Davis'
PM in 'Pardon Me Prime Minister'. Nick also assists Ken W with sound,
as well as recording and arranging the music for the Pantomimes.
Linda
Golding
Linda started life in Yorkshire, then to Bristol in the West.
From Dilton into Bratton, her travels came to rest.
And so you find her here today, producing every capital play!
David
Green
David recently rejoined the JPs after a few years rest from acting.
He mastered a Scottish accent for Pardon Me Prime Minister so is at risk
of being typecast...
Romna
Holt
Romna joined the Players in 2001, opting to work backstage in props. After
a 30yr break from 'treading the boards' in Westbury, Romna got itchy feet
and had a walk-on part in the 2008 production of 'Oh No, Not Again'
Gill & Denis Hurn
Gill is a founder member and has appeared on stage but finds directing
much more rewarding and (sometimes) less scary. In the early 90's she
attended a Director's course at the Salisbury Playhouse, specifically
designed for Amateur Dramatic groups. Denis is also a founder member
and has participated in most of the productions. He has written many of
the short plays and sketches performed over the past 12yrs, the 2008 spring
production being both written and directed by Denis.
Chris
Ligo
Chris came to Bratton from Devon and joined the group in 1999. She has
been in most of the plays and has also been assistant Director. In Blithe
Spirit she felt honoured to follow in the exalted footsteps of Margaret
Rutherford and Penelope Keith as Madame Arcati.
Mark
& Janet Richardson Mark & Janet arrived in 2001, he loves to fool around with
a wicked sense of humour. We miss this on stage since work has prevented
Mark from having acting parts in the last couple of years. He still helps
backstage whenever he can though. Janet is keen to help anyone
make mistakes, and although she is much more comfortable backstage she
has managed to hide her terrible nerves to give some brilliant performances
when persuaded (with lots of arm-twisting) on-stage.
Maz
Talbot Maz is a founder member, having been involved with amateur dramatics
since 1983 in Benbecular (Outer Hebrides) and Bielefeld (Germany) where
performances included award-winning plays, musicas and panto. Fellow JPs
will probably agree that her most important 'role' recently is ensuring
that the biscuit box is well-stocked for tea/coffee time every Wednesday,
when she turns up without fail regardless of whether she's in the production
being rehearsed or not.
Val
& Ken Witcomb As
a founder member Val has mainly been involved as prompt and wardrobe
(you'll be surprised what she can do with a pair of curtains!), but
has taken parts when needed. She directed 'Panic Stations' and enjoyed
the challenge, going on to co-direct 'Oh No, Not Again' with Denis.
Another
founder member, Ken has been known to tread the boards on the
odd occasions, but is most comfortable with set design, lighting &
sound.
He loves nothing better than a challenging set, but gets fed up with
'yet another lounge'. He got a very well deserved round of applause
for recreating the PM's office for PMPM (Nov 07), complete with flocked
wallpaper and wood panelling.
John
Drewett & Geoff Gumm
John and Geoff aren't regular members of the JPs but have earned a well-deserved
place in this 'hall of fame' for their ad-hoc roles and help, which are
too many to list here. John Drewett is also a regular with Bratton Panto
People (more info on Bratton PP coming soon).
Teri
Ward
Teri is also a newcomer to the group having recently moved to the area.
She only joined to 'make new friends' but was soon persuaded to get up
on stage and take her clothes off as Miss Frobisher in PMPM. 0
Mo
MacLean
Alex
Hiscock & Daizi Reynolds
Alex & Daizi are probably our youngest members but certainly not inexperienced
on the stage, having performed with the Trowbridge Players and various
other local AmDram groups since school.
